What Is Your Gift to Jesus?
Props: Advent Candles (pink and white) and Wreath
This is the final week that we will celebrate Baby Jesus and the reason for the season. We will light the 3rd candle (pink) for the Magi - "JOY", and the 4th advent candle (white) for "BABY JESUS". There is a song that goes like this, “Christmas isn’t Christmas till is happens in your heart. Somewhere deep inside you, is where Christmas really starts. So give you heart to Jesus, you’ll discover when you do, that it’s Christmas, really Christmas, in your heart.
God uses music to speak to the soul. Take our old hymns of the church, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”, that speaks to us what Jesus will do in our lives when we have given our hearts to Him. He is the best friend we will ever know!
The stories of Jesus teach us many things. When we have given our hearts to Him, we will live a life that is pleasing to Him. He will help us in all kinds of difficulties – at school, home, on the job, and in playing on the playground.
Mary was obedient to Jesus as Joseph was obedient to the angels request to take Mary as his wife. The shepherds followed the star to Bethlehem, and finally, the Magi (Wiseman) showed us the importance of worshiping Jesus when they traveled a long ways to present the best that they had to Jesus. How can we offer any less?
Let us ask ourselves these questions, “Have we given our very best to Jesus?” “Does He get the leftovers from our long day of work and fun?” “Have we given Him our hearts and are living for Him on a daily basis?” That means asking for His help every day, in our actions - saying and doing those things that are pleasing to Him.
Let us put Jesus first in our hearts and make this Christmas truly meaningful deep inside us. What caused the Magi to look for Jesus? A star in the east. What causes us to follow Jesus every day? Our love for Him and knowing that He is coming again – soon and we must be ready when He returns. He will bring “JOY” to your hearts this Christmas as He, "BABY JESUS", did that night so long ago! What is your gift to Jesus? Give Him your heart and make Christmas – really Christmas!
