Bible Verse: And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to
God the Father through him.

Terri was told to clean her room before she went to school. She had left it a mess all week. Her mother had told her to clean it up over the weekend. But instead, she went for a sleepover at a new girl’s house in her room at school. This had been going on for so long that her mother decided something must be done in order to help Terri to remember and choose to clean her room. She was tired of repeating the same rules over and over to her daughter without any results.

The next day as usual, Terri went to school and left her room in a total mess. Her mother went into the room and gathered all the clothes, books, hair ribbons, socks, shoes in one big pile and put them in a large trash bag. She then sat the trash bag out in the garage where she knew that Terri would not look to find it.

When Terri came home she was greatly surprised to see her room looking so clean. Oh, mom, you are such a dear she told her mother as she hugged her. My room looks great! Wisely, her mother did not say anything. It wasn’t long before Terri noticed her red hair ribbon was missing. She was wearing a red sweater for school the next day, and needed that ribbon. Her mother did not say a thing.

Each day Terri’s mother would go into her room and pick up everything (socks, report, tennis shoes) that she left lying on the floor and add it to the bag in the garage. It wasn’t long before her mother had to start a new bag. There were so many things that Terri was leaving lying around. Soon Terri began complaining over many things missing. Her book for a report was missing. Her tennis shoes for gym were missing. Her favorite pair of socks was missing. She was getting rather frustrated one day when she went into the kitchen very upset over her missing watch that her grandmother had given her for her birthday. She started crying. I have to find it she said. Grandma will be so unhappy with me if I don’t. What will I tell her when she sees me without it next week? Pretty soon, Terri did not have enough clothes to wear for school. She was missing so many things. Where is my blouse, where is my shirt, where is my new socks, where is my toothbrush?

There were so many where’s? That her mother decided it was time that she showed Terri what had happened to all her things. She took Terri out into the garage and opened the two large stuffed bags of clothes. Books, shoes, boats, hairbrush, toothbrush and the list goes on. Mother! Said Terri. What have you done? Why did you do this to me? I have looked everywhere for my things. Her mother went on to tell her that she had been leaving her room messy for far too long. I have repeatedly told you to clean your room and you refuse to take the time to do this. Here are your things, but if it happens again young lady this time your things will be gone and you will not see them again. Oh, I am sorry. I will more careful. And believe me, boys and girls; Terri did not lose many things again after that. She had learned a lesson.

This sign that you see is a repeat sign. It means to play the music again. How many times do your have to be told to do a job over? Maybe, at school when you write sloppy. Maybe, at home when the dishes are dirty after you have washed them. Remember to do the job right the first time so you do not have to repeat it. Do all for the glory of God.

Questions for Discussion:
1.  Why should we do all that we do for the glory of God?

2.  Why should it really matter if we keep our belongins in good order around the home, and in our desk at school?
3.  What could you do instead of complaining?
4.  Have you ever had to repeat something or do it over, because you were careless? Explain.
