They Fought To Conquer Our Foe
In Memory of September 11
They fought, they cried, they would not be denied,
As those around them suffered and died.
Who cared and roamed around the mire,
A friend, a policeman, a rescue fire fighter?
Each hand put forth great effort to aid,
With sweat, and energy that could be collected.
They joined forces to create a great rescue
To conquer the horde in the suffering debris.
Who’s to say to what effort was manifested,
In great pain, turmoil where those silently did lay,
Without hope, and reconciliation in such despair,
The forces joined on - for stop they wouldn’t dare.
A father, a mother, even son or daughter,
An aunt, uncle, grand grandfather, or sweet grandmother,
A neighbor, a friend, a special person that was known,
The forces joined on – for stop they wouldn’t dare.
Such faithfulness and genuine care was bestowed,
In honor of our friends to the very last breath,
We thank them, we love them, in gratitude express,
Their forces joined on – for stop they wouldn’t dare.
