Healthy Choices

Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:3-4)

Such a busy day at the hospital. I met a guest who has made 1,000 sweaters for needy kids. God impressed it on her heart to do this. She shared her story. As she was approaching middle age, she did not know what she was going to do with the rest of her life. God told her to make sweaters. She asked how many, 100? God said "No". Then she asked, “200? God said, 1,000. She has made 1,000 sweaters for these kids donating to various organizations including native Indian children. She needs three yarns balls to make one sweater. She is presently making caps and mittens for these needy children. All of the yarn has been donated in order for her to do this. She has not had to purchase any herself; God has provided. She showed me something that she was working on as she sat at the bedside of her husband.

There are patients who make good use of hospital time. They are innovative and find something to do in a hospital room. Some patients are more needy and others, encouraging. We find an amount of healing as we reach out and do for others. Having a positive attitude toward our circumstances is healthy for healing. We desire to meet all needs whether it is for encouraging, working between staff and patient, listening, and counseling. – Rev. Jeanne McIntosh
