Sharing Christ (Adult skit)
Sharing Christ
Evangelism Skit (Adult or Youth)
Characters: Christian, Ex-Christian (adults or youth)
Ex-Christian: I am not interested in anymore telemarketers. They bug me.
Christian: Hello there! It is such a nice day today.
Ex-Christian: Not with all those kind of calls. (Mimicking) We only need five minutes of your time and would like to ask you some questions about family activities). It took me nine minutes just to get them off my cell line. The bother of those people. Said they were from something like “Focus on the Family Tree” Surely is was not that.
Christian: Hmmm! I do have a family tree that I have been working on for years now. My family dates back all the way to President Johnson.
Ex-Christian: You don’t say! Well these focus people really make me mad! They do not know when to stop. (mimic) How much TV does your family watch per week – per day – per month, It is none of their doggone business. I can watch whatever I want, and when I want.
Christian: So you say this Focus on the Family Tree was focusing on TV questions?
Ex-Christian: You’d think is should be landscaping! Actually, something like that. (mimics) “How many members are in your home, and how many go to church on a regular basis.” I went last Easter, and the Easter before, and the Easter before that and……..
Christian: So you are one of those Easter church attendees. It was a beautiful Easter Sunday this past week. The sun came up so bright for our sunrise service we had at the park.
Ex-Easter: Sunrise service! I never heard of that before. Our church did nothing – ever! They only complained about the pastor, the teachers, the church janitor, the flower committee, and most everything. You talk about church problems; it makes me sick.
Christian: That does sound bad! It sounds like you were hurt in the past.
Ex-Christian: That is an understatement! Someone dug up flowers that my wife and I had planted one Easter Sunday, just because they wanted lilies. I was so hurt that I planted them back. Then, I took my shovel, shook the dust off my feet, and never went back. I’ll never attend those there again. I heard since that the pastor, five teachers, church janitor, and the flower committee all left. They had a hard time getting someone back in there. They deserved it!
Christian: You know that is kind of tough when those things happen. It is even tougher to experience when they happen to people who you think are your friends and who love God. God so loved the world that He gave His only Send to die on a cross for our sins that we may be forgiven and go to heaven some day. It was real hard for God to look on the earth as He saw people treating His only Son in such a disrespectful way. It must have grieved Him.
Ex-Christian: I never thought of it that way.
Christian: You know Christ came to save us when we were unlovable, lost, ungrateful, sinful, and selfish. He lived on this earth without all the nice things that we have today, suffered far beyond we will ever suffer, was tempted by Satan to give up and serve Him, yet He did not listen to Satan.
Ex-Christian: I never thought of it that way.
Christian: Satan comes in many forms. When I say that I mean he comes to us to get us to give up serving Christ. He will tell us lies about others and exaggerate the truth until we believe it, and become discouraged. Once we get to that place, his job is much easier to win us over to serving him rather that Jesus Christ.
Ex-Christian; When you put it like that it kind of makes me mad at the devil.
Christian: Living a Christen will not always be an easy life. There will be times when people do things that cause us great pain. Jesus suffered from great pain, and He did not lose his temper or give up what God had called him to do. Since He has suffered, he knows just how we feel and can help us bear our suffering. He forgave those who harmed him, and will help us to do the same thing.
Ex-Christian: You know I used to be a Christian, but with all the church problems we had and so many people begin critical, I just gave up and quit attending. Maybe I will try this Jesus thing again.
Christian: Well, you can right now. You do not have to wait until later. God is here with us, and willing that none should perish and be lost. Why not come to church with me this Sunday and hear from the Word. We have a good bible study now on Wednesday evenings that will be helpful to you on dealing with pain from the past.
Ex-Christian; Can I bring my wife (husband) with me?
Christian: Sure thing! That is the way we like it….couples coming to worship God together. In fact, bring your kids for we have an awesome Children’s pastor who puts together a great program for the kids while parent enjoy the Word and fellowship. We will even provide you some coffee and cake.
Ex-Christian; Well that does sound prêtty good! I think we will do that. Hey, thanks for listening to an old, complaining person today. I am glad that there are still some Christians out there who live what the church should stand for.
Christian: I am more than glad to serve Jesus, That is what is all about! See you Wednesday evening at 7.
