A Special Baby’s Smile

A Special Baby’s Smile

A Baby Day Sunday Poem
This was written for my grandson per my daughter’s request

He was perfect with five tiny fingers curled around my thumb,

Not a sound he made as I sang to him a song,

He clasped so tightly for such a tiny little hand,

As I gazed lovingly at his first picture on the night stand.

What a sweet smile from baby Samuel!

He was perfect with his eyes tightly closed,

A tiny tear crept down his nose,

He had wanted some milk or maybe mommy to pacify,

His hand grew still with his yawn almost a sigh,

What a sad little smile as he drooped off to sleep.

He was perfect with his tiny little feet,

Ten tiny toes that someday would leap,

But as he rested so content in daddy’s arms,

Dad’s urge to tickle his feet grew in quite alarm,

Then came a gleeful smile from baby Samuel!

He is happy and content as you see from his delight,

He loves to cuddle, roll and gurgle – an adorable sight!

He is always on the lookout for mommy to search,

And when he doesn’t get attention at home, or even church,

You will see Samuel’s brightest, ornery baby smile!
