Toddler and Preschool Curriculum
for Sunday School

It is necessary that we see the importance of teaching toddlers and preschoolers. They are ripe and ready to learn and can learn simple concepts and pictures. Toddlers enjoy picture books with simple explanations. They are not ready to listen to all the words on a page. They like to color yet have not learned how to stay within the lines. They can learn simple songs with actions. They need lots and lots of repetition so you can use the same songs and lessons for more than one week and build upon that. They like to play alone yet need contact with others. They need to hear simply truths like "God loves Me" and "God Made Me."
These lessons are very simple yet can be used over and over for ages 2-4 years old. Songs will be simple with lots of repetition.
Refer to my web page "Setting up a nursery for ideas to use in the toddler room as well. These two quarters of lessons may be repeated once they have been completed. Toddlers learn by much repetition. The second time around, you can do a different craft for variety. I will refer you to another site in order for you to print out a picture for them to color or a craft to do. Each lesson will provide time for: (1) Singing, (2) Bible lesson, (3) memory verse, (4) time for play, (5) snack and (6) Poetry
Suggestion: Use the Children's Bible with pictures as available to point to pictures that can be used, and color an example of the artwork to use with the lessons.
