Mother's Day Response Reading Children

Response Reading Topic: Children and Parents

Based on Scripture: Deut 6:5-7; Prov. 22:6; Prov. 13:24; Prov. 22:15; Prov. 23:13; Prov. 29:15

Leader: Mothers, love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. Teach them diligently to your children, and share this truth with them in your home, when you work, before you rest at night, and when you rise up in the morning.

Congregation: Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not depart from it."

Leader: She who withholds correction from her child will fail them, but the mother who loves him disciplines him diligently."

Congregation:  Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of discipline will remove it far from him.

Leader: Do not hold back discipline from the child, although you correct him using a paddle, he will not die.

Congregation: The paddle and correction give wisdom, but a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother."

Leader: Parents, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. A child who feels he or she is loved and treated with respect will be provided nourishment for their health spiritually and emotionally. A child who sees his parents love each other, will learn how to treat a spouse lovingly someday. A child needs a good example to develop good habits and grow spiritually.

Unison: Let us support our mothers in every way by praying for them that God will give them strength and wisdom to do the task of a mother for all the children in their care.
