Place: Zoo
Food: Goulash
Animal: Graham Bear
Name: Peter
On morning Grandma and grandpa got up early to take the kids to the Zoo. They packed all the things that they felt they would need for the trip. Grandma thought of all the necessary things like wipes, bottled water, her favorite Goulash, some forks, plates and napkins. Grandpa wanted to bring Graham Bears because the kids liked them so much. He also sneaked in a jar of marshmallow to dip them in.
So they all began their trip to the zoo. It was an hour away so the kids took along some books to read on the trip in the van. On the way, Grandpa had out his map examining it, but Grandma decided she would be the best one to drive. Her glasses had been newly prescribed and she thought she could see the signs better. So off they started.
They had been driving for so long when Peter the youngest said, “I’m hungry”. “We are almost there,” said Grandma, “so you just wait until we get there and we can all eat properly on a picnic table.” Grandpa sneaked into the bag and pulled out a Graham Bear, and gave it to Peter who immediately popped it into his mouth.
“When we will be at the zoo,” asked Peter? “Oh we will be there soon,’ Said Grandma. “Grandpa where does that map say we are at,” asked Grandma? Grandpa studied the map closely and then said, “I need my glasses.” Grandma handed him her glasses as she continued driving. “Oh my,” said Grandpa, “we are not headed for the zoo. This road takes us to another place. We are going in the wrong direction. “
“I’m hungry,” says Peter again. Grandpa gets another Graham Bear and gives it to him and he immediately pops it into his mouth being quite for awhile. Grandma turns around and sees a rest area to pull off the road. It has many picnic tables. “I’m hungry,” says Peter again. “I see some picnic tables and we can all eat. While we are eating, Grandpa and I will check about our location and find the way to the zoo.”
The kids and their grandparents all pulled off into the rest area and had a great lunch of Grandma's favorite Goulash, and Grandpa's Graham Bears with marshmallow. Peter ate most of the Graham Bears. Did they make it to the zoo, yes, of course after some time of driving. They had a great time, and were all exhausted after a long day.
Application
Have you ever tried to go somewhere and did not know the way? Maybe you tried to go by your memory and you got lost. Possibly, you had been given the directions, but forgot part of them and you made only one wrong turn causing the trip to be twice as long to get there than it would have been.
Have you ever been taking a test and did not read all the directions? When you got to the end of the test, the teacher had written that you only needed to answer certain question and you had answered all of them.
God’s Word is a map that will take us to heaven. However, we must read it, study it, and follow the directions, or we may get lost. If we want to be with Jesus in heaven we need to follow the Bible. God’s Word says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105). If we follow it, we will not be lost. It will show us how to live and treat others as well.
